We believe that connection is at the root of wellness, and the work that we do is centered around this idea.

Through this approach, we hope to encourage people to do more of what makes them feel connected - whether that’s picking berries, canning salmon, exploring the island, or doing traditional crafts. We understand that wellness looks different for everyone.

Our mission is to support a coordinated, holistic approach to healthy living. We aim to reduce obesity and prevent type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. To do this, we are developing and implementing programs that reflect Unangan values and are guided by the seasons. These programs include a movement based after school program for elementary students, community craft nights that foster connection and heart health awareness, and lifestyle change classes aimed to prevent diabetes.


Currently, we are adapting our programs to focus on education and outreach that promote our goals while social distancing.
