Scholarship Opportunities
The Qawalangin Tribe of Unalaska offers several opportunities for Tribal Members pursuing higher education at an accredited college or university or adult vocational school.
Additionally, the Tribe supports preschool education for tribal member children of preschool age and other Alaska Native/Native American preschool-aged children living in Unalaska and enrolled at the Unalaska City School District.
FREDERICK C. LEKANOFF HIGHER EDUCATION & ADULT VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Scholarships will be given out two times per year, each winter and summer. To apply for a scholarship, please send us an application, current transcripts (official), and show financial need. A minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA and an active enrollment status is required for eligibility. Only complete applications with transcripts and financial need documentation will be considered for a scholarship. Complete applications must be received on or before the deadline (see below). Due to limited funding, we cannot guarantee scholarships for all students that apply. If more applicants apply than scholarships available, students will be selected on a lottery basis. All scholarships are paid directly to the students' higher education or vocational program.
Deadlines:
Winter: December 31 of each calendar year with scholarships for spring or summer terms released for distribution by February 28.
Summer: June 30 of each calendar year with scholarships for late summer or fall terms released for distribution by August 31.

ANTHC Board of Directors Scholarship
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium awards 10 competitive $5,000 scholarships to qualified Alaska Native and American Indian students statewide to increase Alaska Native and American Indian people working in healthcare fields.

Emil Berikoff Sr. Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of the Emil Berikoff, Sr. Memorial (EBMS) Scholarship Program is to provide scholarship awards to APICDA community residents who are currently accepted to or enrolled at a nationally or regionally accredited college or university.

Haginaa Kidul (Helping to Grow) Scholarship
Haginaa Kidul (Helping to Grow) scholarships will financial support of up to $2,000 for accredited college or university enrollment expenses and/or up to $2,000 vocational trainings.
